The Henderson Historical Society offers to the public this series of "little boks" on local history topics. The books are hand made with original photos by the HHS volunteers. There is a shipping and handling charge of $1.50 for each book.
1. A Bit of Henderson Harbor Guiding Recollections, by Stan Hovey, details his summers of 1947 and 1948 as a young teen assistant to native guide Ernie Burnet. This recollection will enthrall the reader of a way of life rarely experienced now on this bay of the Great Lakes. (3 black & white photos) [ $5.00 ]
2. The Story of the Tyler Coverlet, by the granddaughter of the famous jacquard weaver, Harry Tyler of Henderson, New York. Beautifully composed with color photos, this retelling of the "story" will delight everyone who has ever fallen in love with the truely 19th century coverlet patterns. (9 color photos) [$10.00]
3. Champlain's Arrival on Henderson Shore 1615, Frank Springsteen (artist) and the story of the painting. The biography of the Henderson native and Syracuse University graduate in Fine Arts/Illustrations was compiled and written by Elaine Scott and John A. Stevens (Springsteen's nephew). The "Story of the Painting" was written by Frank W. Springsteen for the original mural dedication ceremony. (1 large full color photo of the Champlain mural and 2 black & white photos of the artist) [$5.00]
4. Glimpses of Henderson History, by Emeritus HHS member Norine David. A selection of articles written by Mrs. David on Henderson Topics: the "Underground Railroad", "Stony Creek", "Smithville", "Roberts Corners", "Ships & Shipwrecks" and "Bishop Street". (1 color photo) [$5.00]
5. The Log Cabin, by Eric Anderson (Town Historian of Henderson), and Richard LaCrosse (cabin rebuilder and owner of Antique Log Homes). The authors take the reader on the exciting discovery of the "Ray" cabin, and the subsequent dismantling and reassembly on the grounds of the Henderson Historical Society in 2004.
