Peters-Stevens Boat Annex
Soon after moving into the former Universalist Church building in 1996, the Henderson Historical Society began to recieve donations pertaining
to the boating heritage of the community. Some of those items were the Tyler family photo album of their guide boat business. Other items were
large framed nautical maps and paintings of the Stony Point Lighthouse. Still more important were the gifts of the actual work, and guide boats
designed and built by the guide boat families of Henderson. To date, the Society has seven boats, and only room in the Museum to display two.
With the bequest of Dr. Lloyd Peters in 2003, the Society made a pledge to the Peters family to erect a Boat Annex as soon as the commitment to
the 1820s log cabin was complete. The cabin project was finished in 2005, and the Society established a formal account for the Boat Annex.
The project was named the "Peters-Stevens Boat Annex" as a tribute to those families for their donations and efforts to preserve the boating
herritage of Henderson. The basic plan is to build an annex directly behind the museum to house the boats, and display the related nautical
